Poker - Addiction Or Not?

Poker... How I see this? Money, more money ... and even MORE MONEY. Extremely good earnings, if you have strong desire and take a little time. You can end up a winning player.

It is not addiction, but good dream job. Good friend of mine, otherwise a very good poker player
said:"If I'm addicted to poker, it is also the one who prepares hamburgers every day... addicted to minced meat!"  Is that really so?

If you're unfortunate sufficient to suffer from a playing addiction, don't despair. You'll find some things you may do to assist overcome your difficulty with playing.

1. Recognize your addiction

As with any compulsive behavior, recognizing it is the initial step to recovery. If you are not at this stage yet, maybe somebody who knows and likes you has recognized it prior to you had a chance to admit it. Do not shoot them down in flames - take some time out to see regardless of whether they might be proper.

2. Be open with your finances

Most gamblers tend to celebrate their successes - and sometimes even the "nearly wins", the ones that only just got away - but ignore the times when they lost far more than they won. Retain a diary or spreadsheet so which you can see your progress (or otherwise) within the cold light of day.

3. Retain away from temptation

Which is often simpler said than performed with lottery scratchcards seemingly everywhere you turn. On the web gambling could be awkward, depending on the view of your country or state, but don't spend hours hunting for ways round the restrictions just to satisfy your addiction.

4. Install an web filter

Just like porn web-sites, you'll find filters out there which will block recognized playing internet sites and stop you reaching them. Be wary of free programs - unless they've been recommended by a reputable search, they may perhaps come with additional features that you just aren't told about.

5. Pay your regular bills first

There's usually the temptation to put a few further dollars on a bet with the notion of winning and therefore being able to spend your common debts. Resisting that temptation isn't effortless either. So shell out your bills on receipt, so the funds is no longer in your account.

These are just advices, however it's you turn to find out if you are addicted to the game itself.
If you put enough time into learning poker and stay away from spending more money that you can afford... my personal opinion is, that poker is a great game to play.
